School in the time of COVID

How can LEAP support our kids during this pandemic? With distance learning and ongoing Zoom classes, educational enrichment becomes all the more needed! Art, movement, foreign language and all the rest of the programs LEAP supports are all the more important. Keeping some continuity with the in-classroom experience our kids love adds comfort and stability to their distance learning.

Scrip Cards

Scrip Cards

Did you know that local merchants have offered to donate 3% of what you spend with them to LEAP?  By shopping with a “scrip card” at United Markets or Good Earth, you can earn valuable revenue for LEAP.

For the 2019/2020 school year, Scrip brought in over $9000 to LEAP

Simply present your card at checkout to confirm LEAP’s credit.  If you have small kids, maybe ask them to help you remember to show your card at checkout!

Need a script card? Email us with your address and we’ll send a set.

Sponsorship

One of LEAPs most significant sources of funding is Sponsorship. Sponsors are companies, foundations or generous patrons who have generously decided to support all of the children in the Lagunitas School District. Sponsorships are available at many levels from $10,000 to $500. Sponsors are thanked publicly on the LEAP website, at LEAP events and in community publications. Please contact our sponsorship team for more information, or go ahead and take the plunge!

Amazon Smile

Yes, even the mother of all shopping sites gives back to charity. By simply using the website smile.amazon.com you can help raise money for LEAP. It’s the same as the regular website except that Amazon will donate a percentage of everything you buy back to LEAP. If you’re already using Amazon why not make sure LEAP is your preferred charity. See our video on how to sign up for Amazon Smile

Valley Visions Music Series 2019/2020

Let’s all hope that the Valley Visions Music Series can be revived someday and we can all celebrate together in person.

The VVMS was a wonderful success! We had a series of four live music performances planned at the San Geronimo Valley Presbyterian Church. Two of those shows sold out! Unfortunately, we did have to cancel one show, Tim Bluhm, due to COVID.

Despite the cancellation, the music series made $3306 after all expenses were paid. The series was successful in other ways too:

  1. Brought our community together
  2. Showcased artists who would not be seen in West Marin otherwise
  3. It invigorated our fundraising volunteers by bringing fresh ideas to the group

Big thanks go to Kerry Olivotti and Amos Klausner for doing so much leg work and putting in the late nights to make the Valley Visions Music Series such a hit!

Civil Rights History Trip 2019

In May of 2019, the 8th grade students from Lagunitas Middle School took the trip of a lifetime!  After studying the history of the Civil Rights Movement in America, our students spent a week visiting in-person momentous sites in Alabama and Georgia. It’s one thing to read and study in books, it’s another to stand on the Edmund Pettus Bridge with people who marched side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr.
