Where money comes from and goes…

Who is LEAP?

LEAP is US! We are the parents, grandparents and community members of the Lagunitas School District. LEAP is the umbrella fundraising organization for our district.

We raise money in the three main ways:
• PLEDGE – recurring contributions where the donor decides how to direct the funds
• ACTIVE FUNDRAISING – fundraising events, such as, Valley Visions (Feb 2, 2019), Give Back Nights, Book Fair, etc…
• PASSIVE FUNDRAISING – companies will give a portion of your purchases to LEAP

Where does the money go?

Pledged funds go directly to the program of the donor’s choice.
Passive funds are divided among the programs based on the number of students in the program.
Active fundraising goes into allocations for the programs ($12,000 for 2017/2018). It also pays for the district wide music program which includes instruction and no cost instruments for kids to take home. LEAP provides “mini-grants” to teachers for materials, field trips, projects… whatever the teacher wants for her or his class.

Some example of recent spending highlights:
• All middle school students will now receive Spanish instruction!
• LEAP was able to deliver $12000 to each program in 2017/2018 (this is ON TOP OF PLEDGE)

Help us bridge the gap between state funding and what it actually takes to produce happy, well-rounded, well-adjusted kids. We need you to participate in any way that you can!

How can you help?

Please support your district financially! Pledge is the most important piece of the fundraising puzzle. In addition to pledge, come to our events. Just buy a ticket and have a great time with your community. Lastly, don’t forget to use SCRIP cards at Good Earth and United Market. 3% of whatever you spend will be donated back to LEAP.
Please volunteer to help LEAP. You can Join the LEAP Board, it’s really not that big of a commitment and we need parents from each program. Help with specific fundraisers, such as, Valley Visions, Book Fair, the Spring Fundraiser…

Thank you for a GREAT year!

Between Give Back Nights, Clothes Off Your Back, Read-a-thon, Scrip and Valley Visions we acheived FABULOUS results.   You can see all the numbers in Rebecca’s year end newsletter.

Your dollars contributed to so many wonderful programs, such as, the Bobcat Band, art for all kids, field trips, in-classroom aides and so much more.

LEAP is already hard at work on plans for the 2017-2018 school year! Our district is facing a HUGE hurdle this Fall and LEAP will be in the forefront of the effort to ensure that all of the kids in our district continue to have the wonderful education they deserve.

Thanks LEAP!

Such a sweet ‘Thank You’ from Jenelle’s 3rd/4th grade class in Open Classroom. LEAP provided funds for an overnight Environmental Learning Program field trip at the Petaluma Adobe where the kids spent 24 hours living in California’s history.

Fun and Festive Halloween Carnival

Thank you 8th grade student leaders for working hard to provide our entire school community with another exuberant Halloween celebration!

Led by student Molly Soladay, a well-organized and dedicated group of 8th graders planned and executed the entire event. They presented LEAP with a budget proposal for the event, and after receiving their event allowance, and with some adult support (thank you staff and parents!), were able to shop, set up, staff, and pull off a fun and festive event for all. And at the end of the day, the students not only stayed within their budget, but made a $327 donation to LEAP from their proceeds. Thank you 8th graders for your contributions of new ideas, fresh energy and hard work put into a beloved Lagunitas tradition and your generous spirit. The executive skills and leadership needed to pull off an event for 300 plus children and adults are significant and valuable life skills indeed. This was a tremendous service to our school community. We congratulate and thank the 8th grade leadership team and all middle school volunteers for a job well done!
